FIRST LOVE
1st Timothy – ‘United in a Common Purpose’

Paul describes Timothy as “a true son in the faith” (1st Tim 1:2a), which is such a marvellous testimony of the character of this young man. Timothy is a ‘true’ son in that, in every sense, he was all that Paul wished him to be. The phrase carries with it the sense of being united both in spirit and in purpose.

Being united in a common purpose means that we are all in this together, we are all going in the same direction, that we are here to help each other to get there. The whole letter is about giving instruction to Christians to stand firm in their calling and not to forget our common purpose. Paul reminds us that the common purpose that binds the church together effects and changes the lives of people for the better for all eternity!

First Love is a series of four to six week discipleship books that places emphases on our spiritual growth and relationships, and empowering believers by explaining Scriptures in a manner that is easily understood and applied to practical Christian life, which is paramount for all Christians.
